Permanent Court of Arbitration
Since more than 100 years, the Waren-Verein maintains an independent arbitral tribunal of international significance, the decisions of which receive attention not only in the trade itself but also in jurisdiction and jurisprudence.
The arbitral tribunal is composed of merchants and legal advice is given by the syndic, who is qualified for the office of a judge. Judgments are generally based on the conditions of business of the Waren-Verein, on its own arbitration rules and on commercial expertise which has been gained in daily practice.
Also from the beginning, disputes regarding the quality of goods are settled in quality arbitrations by means of expert opinions which are mandatory for the arbitration court.
